An artist's work is often crucially determined by their surrounding environment during the moments of their inspiration. In a short story by Edgar Allen Poe, he cites an archaic, mossy house as the source of his vision. In a similar fashion, Tae sook’s  art is filled with poetic subtlety that represents the world around her home. She works in a beautiful, natural isolation; her home is nestled in between the mountains and surrounded by lush trees.
Surrounded by nature, she depicts trees and birds speaking plainly to her. Yang presents the rendezvous between leaves and clouds at night under a profound sky, an ever present allusion in her work to the relationship between oneself and the natural world. Yang likens the world to a tree soaring toward the sky. This motif develops into a story of ever-green leaves and dreamy clouds. The clouds her food, and the leaves her friends. She recurringly uses flying fish, swimming clouds, and tree leavesto represent a whimsical world that melds our perceptions and challenges traditional ways of thinking. Yang presents scenes imbued with her brilliant sensibility, drawing on everyday items to reveal the duality of reality and illusion, reality and fiction, perception and thought, object and space, and order and chaos.
